I am SO thrilled to finally share with you something very special I have been working on, with someone who is very special, to celebrate the launch of Act Like A Ladie.
WHO DOESN’T LIKE FREE SHIT?
First things first—have you signed up for my newsletter yet? Let’s be real—maybe it’s my inner hoarder talking, but who doesn’t like free stuff? Do you want free printable art, free DIY tutorials, exclusive deals to my etsy shop, and a behind the scenes look at running your own business? Are you an artist or maker looking to connect with other creatives? Then what are you waiting for? Sign up for the Act Like a Ladie Newsletter!
As I hinted above, for the past couple months I have been working on a super sneaky project that I am so excited to finally unveil! When you sign up for my mailing list you will receive two free downloadable prints that I have collaborated on with a fellow artist and girl boss, Dayna, of Dayna Lee Collection.
Don’t know Dayna yet? Well you should! Learn more about her here where I featured her on the blog for my first Fierce Female Friday. She featured me on her blog too as her first Inspirational Woman. Check out the interview here. Dayna’s collection features hand lettered goods such as art prints, pillow covers and accessories all featuring sassy and inspirational quotes. She also shares my love of girl power and pink.
Just Building My Empire
I have never collaborated with an artist on something like this before and was unsure what to expect. It was pretty amazing that although we have never met in person we are so aligned creatively. For our collaboration, we wanted to do two prints that would embody each of our blog themes while also appealing to both of our audiences. When we discussed the ideas we had been thinking about for the empire themed print, we both described an identical vision. We both had envisioned a large empire state building with smaller surrounding buildings. With the empire building as our anchor the other details—for example coloring the empire building pink and having the text go down the building—slowly fell into place.
Live in Shades of Pink
Sharing a love of glamour, sass and all things pink, the second print of Audrey holding a paintbrush that reads “life is not black and white – live in shades of pink” was a natural choice for us.
ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY
In addition to the free prints and discount, to celebrate the launch of our blogs, Dayna and I are doing a giveaway that begins today, Wednesday, Sept 16, at 5 pm. DO WHAT YOU LOVE, EAT A COOKIE, & JOIN ME
Growing up everyone tells you to “do what you love.” When you are grown up, the second half of the message is revealed – “do what you love if you can get paid really well for it.” I may still be wrestling with part two, but one thing I do know is that I love creating. I also love cookies (just ask my roommate about my nightly chocolate chip cookie ritual), but I’d sooner give them up than go a day without making something.
SO COME ON HITCH YOUR WAGON, TO THE HAPPINESS I'M DRAGGIN'
An unexpected development has been that sharing my creations on instagram has become almost as rewarding as the process of making them. It has been so incredible to connect with other creatives and artists all over the world! For example Dayna is in Canada! I have also “met” artists in Ireland, London and all over the states. Although she was referring to living in a trailer, Kacey Musgraves aptly summarized this feeling in her song called My House:
So what else could you ask for?
You don't even need a passport
To see the whole world from our living room
It is amazing to have this kind of access to people and artists hundreds of miles away.
“Cultivating Creativity + Kindness” is not just a tagline for me. I intend for my blog to help me live these words every day—to inspire myself and others and to be inspired by all of you. The rest of Kacey’s song sums things up—
So come on hitch your wagon
To the happiness I'm draggin'
If I can't bring you to my house
I'll bring my house to you
WHAT TICKLES YOUR PICKLE?
I’d love to hear about what inspires you! What would you like to see on the blog? Post a comment here at Act Like a Ladie or shoot me an email KatieRobert4@gmail.com
Thank you all so much for your continued support!
